Hi Elton, when did you arrive in the Netherlands?
In August 2022.

How did you experience the first few months in the Netherlands?
It was very exciting. The Netherlands is a beautiful country. I was amazed by how active most people are with traveling everywhere with bicycles. Everything looked so clean and I felt safe everywhere I went.

Does it feel like home?
The Netherlands now feels like home to me. Whenever I go away for a holiday I find myself missing my home and my country, the Netherlands ;)!

Do you still live in the same house as in the beginning?
I do.

How was it to learn the language? Was it easier or harder than expected?
The initial learning curve was in my favour since I am Afrikaans. But once I was past the initial learning phases I found it difficult to follow the Dutch grammar and conversation style. However, I can now fully understand when listening, my speaking is still in progress though!

What do you miss most about South Africa?
Friends and family and the sun when it is winter here.

What appeals to you most in the Netherlands?
The safety and overall stability of the country.
