Wynand, why did you emigrate to the Netherlands?
The Netherlands provide a fantastic work-life balance and an extremely safe environment for living and raising a family. The work experience that we are exposed to here is very valuable and rewarding, employees are treated well and the entirety of Europe is now only a matter of minutes or hours away. Travel to and from South Africa is quite affordable and the time zone region here allows us to be in frequent contact with our families in SA via Skype during normal hours.

How do you like the Netherlands? What are the biggest differences with South Africa?
The complete absence of burglar bars, security guards and unroadworthy vehicles! I am continuously reminded of the extreme safety of this picture-perfect country. The second thing that caught me off guard was how clean the country is. Walking through the cities, there is absolutely no trash on the roads and sidewalks. We constantly see young children walking through the cities at night, unaccompanied by an adult, with no need to be concerned for their own physical safety.

Please tell us something about the projects you are currently working on
I am currently developing software for a human resource management tool in the retail planning space. The technology used is cutting-edge and I am constantly experiencing improvement in my software development skill set. My client provides an environment which facilitates rapid skill growth, many office-perks, and a talented team that welcomed me wholeheartedly.

How did the process of emigration go?
The process went extremely smoothly. I was hired by summit developers roughly 6 months before we arrived in the Netherlands which gave us ample time to plan for and arrange the big move. summit developers was very helpful throughout the entire process and happily addressed any and all concerns we had. This made the entire experience extremely pleasant and we haven’t looked back since.

Can you explain to the South Africans who are considering to go overseas how you did experience the support from us?
