Pieter le Roux

Pieter le Roux came together with his wife Karlien to the Netherlands. They arrived in August 2020. Read more about his experiences.

Pieter, why did you emigrate to the Netherlands?
My wife and I had to decide whether we were going to buy a house in South-Africa or emigrate. We decided to emigrate to the Netherlands. Some of our main reasons were that there were good job opportunities for me in the IT industry, my wife already had EU citizenship, the Netherlands is a great country to raise a family and it is also globally relatively central.

Can you tell us something how you do like the Netherlands?
We love it here in the Netherlands – we regularly go for walks or bicycle rides and enjoy all the public parks and beautiful nature. The biggest difference is of course safety and efficiency. We do not feel unsafe to go for a walk or drive at night and it is incredible to see how efficiently processes work.

Please tell us something about the projects you are currently working on.
I am currently finishing my training trajectory at Info Support and I am in the process of joining a project in the banking industry.

Did the process of emigration go smoothly?
The process of emigration went a lot quicker than we anticipated (even in the uncertain times of corona). Here and there were a few small bumps in the road but nothing too big to stop the process.

Can you explain to the South Africans who are considering to go overseas how you did experience the support from us?
The support was positively overwhelming! We followed your guidance through all the steps and we never felt like you might be missing something. You never hesitated to answer any questions we had (and we had many). It felt more like friends with a lot of experience were helping us than a recruitment company.
