Morné Lombard

It was September 2021 when Morné Lombard arrived in the Netherlands.

Morné, why did you emigrate to the Netherlands?
I feel like every person should introduce some level of change into their lives from time to time to grow as a person and to make it easier to adapt to whatever life throws at you. Moving to the Netherlands was exactly that for me. I also used to watch a lot of Dutch TV shows which got me hooked on the language. I decided to teach myself the language and thought of making use of my new skill by moving here.

Can you tell us something how you do like the Netherlands?
I really enjoy it here, I didn’t really have a culture shock at all, apart from the fact that everything here is much more organised than in South Africa. You can definitely see where your tax money is spent here, and it helps keep everyone happy. Win-win for everyone!

Please tell us something about the projects you are currently working on.
I am currently working at a company that builds ERP software and other supporting applications for the prefab, concrete and building industry. Clients use our software to efficiently manage their automated factories and supply chains in the best ways possible. The technology stacks that I am working with closely match my personal experience and preference, which makes it a lot of fun to work on. Furthermore, my colleagues are very friendly and were very welcoming when I walked through the doors on my first day.

Did the process of emigration go smoothly?
It went extremely well! Being an individual, it made my travel arrangements and the whole immigration process very simple. I had to get some documentation in order to obtain my visa, but it all worked out perfectly. Moving to another continent in the middle of a pandemic sounds very challenging, but the summit developers team made it super easy for me.

Can you explain to the South Africans who are considering to go overseas how you did experience the support from us?
I am very happy with the summit developers team and what they did for me to help make everything as simple as possible. When I arrived, everything was sorted for me and when I had any questions, they would always assist with enthusiasm. I would highly recommend summit developers simply because of how approachable they are. I know other people who also immigrated to the Netherlands and they had to figure out and do so many things themselves. It really helps to have someone as close as summit to assist with your whole immigration process, and even after arriving here.
