Eddy Pretorius

It was the end of September 2023 when Eddy Pretorius came to the Netherlands, together with Natasha, ready for new adventures.

Eddy, why did you emigrate to the Netherlands?
I wanted a better life for me, and my partner. We both had a strong pull towards the Netherlands. We wanted to be closer to the rest of the world and all the experiences it has to offer. What better choice than the Netherlands? It’s a great country, both functional and cultural. I also wanted to explore new frontiers in my career. The company summit developers found for me is exactly what I envisioned.

Can you tell us something how you do like the Netherlands?
So far it has been amazing. Everything is so clean and functional. The people have been so welcoming and accommodating towards us. Whether personal or professional.
I would say the biggest differences has to be how everything just works and also how it’s a breeze when you have to do anything at the IND or local municipality. No more queues for hours and NO MORE LOADSHEDDING.

Please tell us something about the projects you are currently working on.
I’m working on a transport management system together with multiple teams for two big companies that transport various liquids across the world. It’s really something impressive. A lot of thought and planning has been invested into this project and it shows. They encourage the use of the latest standards and technologies to achieve their goals.

Did the process of emigration go smoothly?
The biggest issue was getting our documents ready and apostilled. Once that was done everything was a breeze. summit developers was a major help and they ensured that everything was ready and handled in time. After the documents were sorted it was pretty much getting visas and booking tickets. They helped us with every step and advised us where they could. When we arrived, we were picked up and taken to our new home and we were even given a basket of groceries with all the essentials as well as some nice treats to welcome us.

Can you explain to the South Africans who are considering to go overseas how you did experience the support from us?
The people working at summit developers really know what they are doing. If you have a problem, they help you solve it and advise you on every step. I never for a moment felt like something will happen that will jeopardize the process that together with them we couldn’t solve. They went above and beyond for us on many occasions.
