Eben Schutte and his wife Denise arrived in the Netherlands in November 2022.

Eben, why did you emigrate to the Netherlands?
During my time visiting family in the Netherlands I realized that a future in Europe would yield more opportunities for personal fulfilment.

Can you tell us something how you do like the Netherlands?
The most apparent difference, especially amongst other expats in my experience, is the inherent strive for improvement that is not only displayed, but also attained. As if the common citizen can afford to care about their surroundings.

Did the process of emigration go smoothly?
In a word, seamless. We decided on travelling ‘light-weight’ and started out fresh. After about a month, it still feels a bit like vacation.

Can you explain to the South Africans who are considering to go overseas how you did experience the support from us?
